Opening 00:01 August 11, 2017 in the following Geoduck Management Areas (GMAs): SUMMARY: 14E01, Deep Bay to Nile Creek 14E02, Nile Creek to Qualicum Bay Variation Order No. 2017-407 Fishery Continues: 16D01, Thormanby Island Variation Order No. 2017-378 14E04, French Creek 14E05, Rathtrevor Beach Variation Order No. 2017-367 14E03, Qualicum Beach Variation Order No. 2017-357 Note: See Fishery Notice No. FN0781 Bivalve Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Update, as recommended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and issued by DFO. Bivalve Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Updates can change at any time please confirm the required Pacific Fisheries Management Subarea is open prior to fishing. DETAILS: GMA 14E01, Deep Bay to Nile Creek: 1. That portion of Subarea 14-5 to 1.5 nautical miles offshore lying between the northern boundary of Subarea 14-5 and a line drawn due northeast offshore at Nile Creek; 2. That portion of Subarea 14-8 east of a line running from the eastern end of Mapleguard Point in Deep Bay at 49 degrees 28.081 minutes north latitude, 124 degrees 43.600 minutes west longitude northwesterly to a point on Denman Island north of Repulse Point at 49 degrees.29.369 minutes north latitude, 124 degrees 45.391 minutes west longitude. GMA 14E02, Nile Creek to Qualicum Bay: 1. That portion of Subarea 14-4 to 1.5 nautical miles offshore northwest of a line drawn due northeast offshore from an unnamed point at 49 degrees 22.142 minutes north latitude, 124 degrees 29.135 minutes west longitude; 2. That portion of Subarea 14-5 south of a line drawn due northeast off shore at Nile Creek to 1.5 nautical miles offshore. NOTES: North Coast and West Coast Vancouver Island areas are identified on separate Fishery Notices. See the 2017/18 Geoduck and Horse Clam Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) for a more detailed description of the Fishing Protocol. The On-Grounds Monitor and/or Archipelago Marine Research will direct the fleet through Geoduck beds and GMAs.
