Area F Troll Update - July 20th, 2017

CHINOOK
The 2017 Area F troll chinook TAC is 108,500 pieces, and will be managed to the 
maximum 3.2% exploitation objective on WCVI chinook using an Effort / Harvest 
Relationship Management Tool.  The troll fishery opened June 21 (FN0513).  
Average CPUE over the past week as declined to 20 chinook per vessel per day 
which is at the decadal average. The estimated total catch to date is 83,200 
chinook which is 77% of the 2017 Area F Troll TAC.  The total chinook validated 
to date is 63,371 pieces.  The estimated harvest rate of WCVI chinook is 1.7% 
as estimated by fishing effort using the Effort Harvest Management Tool.  The 
chinook fishery will close in early August to protect WCVI chinook.  Refer to a 
following notice for closure details.

Stock proportions of troll catch from DNA samples are as follows:

Sample #1 
- from 377 fish (30 vessel landings) caught between June 21 and July 3.  
- 28.5% South Thompson, 21.5% Upper Columbia Summer/fall, 15.6% North & Central 
Oregon, 7.0% Coastal Washington, 4.1% WCVI, 1.1% Skeena and 0.0% Nass

COHO, PINK
The Dixon Entrance targeted coho fishery opened July 10 (FN0590).  The current 
coho catch is estimated to be 152,000 pieces with above average catches.  Coho 
CPUE has remained over 110 coho per vessel per day since the opening and has 
remained above the decadal average to date.
