Area F Troll Update - July 14, 2017

CHINOOK
The 2017 Area F troll chinook TAC is 108,500 pieces, and will be managed to the 
maximum 3.2% exploitation objective on WCVI chinook using an Effort Harvest 
Relationship Management Tool. Approximately 115 vessels are currently 
participating in the fishery. CPUE has declined to 15 chinook per vessel per 
day from 35-40 chinook per vessel per day the previous week. The estimated 
total catch as of July 14 is 65,000 chinook which is 60% of the Area F Troll 
TAC. The estimated harvest rate of WCVI chinook is 1.3% as estimated by the 
Effort Harvest Management Tool. 

COHO, PINK
The Dixon Entrance targeted coho fishery opened July 10 (FN0590).  The total 
catch to date is estimated to be 65,000 coho and 3,500 pink. Average CPUE was 
130 coho per vessel per day over the first 4 days of the opening.

CENTRAL COAST LIMITED ENTRY COHO DEMO FISHERY
The deadline for Area F licence holders to submit expressions of interested was 
July 5 (FN0571). Area F Harvest Committee members assisted the department with 
random selections of applicants on July 6. The department will be finalizing 
plans for the demo fishery over the coming week with a planned opening for 
August 1. Refer to a following notice for details.
