FN0524-In-season Allocation of 2017 Offshore Pacific Hake Quota

Groundfish Trawl vessel owners/licence eligiblity holders are advised that the
2017 total Canadian Offshore Pacific Hake quota of 156,067 metric tonnes has
been allocated as follows:

Shoreside Delivery: 110,955 metric tonnes
Joint Venture Delivery: 15,000 metric tonnes
Reserve(inseason allocation): 30,112 metric tonnes

Included in this quota is sum of all individual licences carryover of 16,284
metric tonnes (14,704 mt Shoreside IVQ and 1,580 mt Joint Venture IVQ) from the
2016 season.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) has now allocated a further 59,626
mt of Shoreside delivery quota and 13,420 mt of Joint Venture Delivery quota
and calculated the appropriate fees for each eligible groundfish trawl licence.

Industry is reminded that DFO initially allocated 26,999 metric tonnes of
Pacific Hake for Shoreside delivery to eligible groundfish trawl licenses on
February 21, 2017.

The Groundfish Development Quota portion (10%) of the Shoreside Delivery quota
(9,625 mt) will be allocated upon completion of the Groundfish Development
Authority process expected in early September.

The 30,112 mt quota held in Reserve will be allocated by DFO in early August
following the In-season Hake Advisory Committee (IHAC) review of the 2017
fishery.

Payment of the hake fees for each applicable groundfish trawl licence must now
be made through the National Online Licensing System (NOLS). The applicable
hake fee loaded into NOLS is based on the combined JV and Shoreside hake
totals.
Upon payment of fees, the Groundfish Management Unit (GMU) will assign and
issue a licence amendment reflecting the revised Offshore Hake IVQ for that
licensed vessel. Fees owing are based on the permanent individual vessel quota
percentage (%) of offshore hake for each delivery category held on a licence as
of June 1st multiplied by the newly released quota multiplied by the $4 per mt
licence fee for hake.
