FN0509-COMMERCIAL - Pelagics: Tuna USA68 2017 Licensing Information (USA waters)
As per the current fishing regime under the Canada/USA Pacific Albacore Tuna Treaty, the U.S. EEZ will be accessible for albacore fishing and port access for USA68 licence holders on the eligibility list (numbers 1-45) from June 15 to September 15, 2017. The list of authorized USA68 vessels will be posted online at: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/commercial/pelagic-pelagique/tuna-thon/index- eng.html As per Conditions of Licence, all tuna vessels must meet the monitoring requirements for the tuna fishery, including submission of harvest logbooks and compliance with hail requirements. The industry selected service provider to arrange monitoring services for 2017 is the Canadian Highly Migratory Species Foundation (CHMSF), 4829 Maplegrove Street, Victoria, BC, V8Y 3B9, (250) 658-0179. Please contact the CHMSF to arrange for purchase of logbook, data keypunching, data transmission and other services prior to fishing for tuna. All Hail reports shall be made to the designated tuna hail service provider toll-free at 1-866-377-1400 from 0900 to 1600 hrs Monday to Friday only. The 2017 Category USA68 licence renewal fees for licenses 1 through 45 are now available for payment in the Pacific Region through the National Online Licensing System (NOLS). Vessel owners must use the National Online Licensing System (NOLS) to go online to view, pay for and print their commercial fishing licences, licence conditions, and/or receipts. A reminder that all licence renewal fee payments must be made through the NOLS. Upon the Department receiving the required payment, the licence will be issued and notification will be sent via email to advise vessel owners that a change has been made to the vessel owners online account. The licence documents, licence conditions and receipt will be available to be printed at that time. As application forms are no longer being used, providing the additional licence and vessel information must be done by navigating to the 'Submit a Request' menu selection within the National Online Licensing System (NOLS). Full instructions are available at: http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/sdc-cps/products-produits/request-demande- eng.htm); Where appropriate, select the account that holds the licence you are wishing to 'Submit a Request' for and mouse click on 'Select'; Choose the 'Request Type' 'Licensing Services Not Listed Above' and mouse click on 'Select'; In the 'Comment' box please enter the following information: Licence Number (i.e. USA68 1 2017) Vessel Registration Number (VRN previously known as CFV); Vessel Name Vessel Master name (i.e. First Name, Last Name and Date of Birth); Radio Call Sign Radio Calling Frequency Radio Working Frequency Vessel Home Port Port of Registry Click on the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the screen and the request will be assigned a unique number. Clients are advised to please check the 'Request Status' during the next 2 working days as this is how they will be advised of any problems or additional requirements; Client support will be available via e-mail (fishing-peche@dfo-mpo.gc.ca) or toll-free telephone (1-877-535-7307).
