The wild commercial Pacific oyster fishery will close effective 23:59 hours May 
31, 2017.  All wild commercial Pacific oyster harvest sites will close, as 
scheduled in the current IFMP.

The following harvest sites (described within the IFMP) will close:

Harvest Area: Bird Cove

Harvest Area: Myrtle Rocks
Harvest Area: Savary Island
Harvest Area: Hernando Reef
Harvest Area: East Hernando

Harvest Area: Stag and Dog Bays
Harvest Area: Lloyd Point
Harvest Area:  Mink Island
Harvest Area: Seaford
Harvest Area: Tenedos Bay
Harvest Area: Waddington 

Area 16
Harvest Area: Killam Bay
Harvest Area: Blind Bay 
Harvest Area: Davie Bay 
Harvest Area: Mouat Bay
Harvest Area: St. Vincent Bay

Variation Order 2017-123 is revoked.


Notes:

The Commercial wild Pacific oyster fishery is tentatively scheduled to re-open 
on September 15, 2017 according to the current IFMP.  Harvesters should check 
official DFO Fishery notices for openings and closures. 

Harvesters are responsible for checking Fishery Notices for the Bivalve 
Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Updates prior to each day's harvesting, as 
recommended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and issued by DFO.

Harvesters are advised to observe the boundaries of any intertidal tenures. 
Harvesting on tenures is prohibited under this fishery opening unless 
authorized by the tenure holder.

Fishers should consult and read the 2017/18 Pacific Oyster Integrated Fisheries 
Management Plan and the licence condition for this fishery prior to fishing.  A 
copy of the IFMP may be obtained by emailing a request to:  guy.parker@dfo-
