FN0454-COMMERCIAL Salmon: Troll - Chinook - Area G - Areas 23 to 27 and 123 to 127 - Closure May 23, 2017

Effective 23:59 hours May 23, 2017 the Area G Troll fishery will close in all 
Areas and Subareas on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

Variation Order No. 2017-G-TR-WCVI-005 is revoked.   


Following discussion with the Area G Harvest Committee, early closure of the 
fishery was recommended due to poor fish quality.  The Area G Troll chinook 
catch to May 21 is approximately 26,000 chinook of the 34,000 catch target for 
the April/May fishing period.  Any uncaught fish will be added to the summer 
plug fishery which is expected to occur in late July and/or August.
