FN0320-ABORIGINAL and COMMERCIAL - Herring - Roe - Areas 6 to 10 - Central Coast - Update April 02, 2017
Central Coast Bulletin #28 April 02, 2017: The Proud Canadian worked through the Moss Passage area, through the Reid Passage and Powell Anchorage area, and back into outer Seaforth Channel. They will be continuing in the area today - and into Bella Bella before heading back up Spiller Channel. The gill net charter Star King continued their sounding program in Spiller Channel and the Reid Passage and Lower Mathieson area yesterday. They will be working in Spiller Channel today. The Lady Raven will begin their charter tomorrow. The spawn flight scheduled for yesterday was cancelled due to weather. The next spawn fight is scheduled for early next week, weather dependant. No new test sets have been completed. The spawn observed in Clifford Bay ended on the same day it was observed; however it has been reported to have begun again, and expanded along the southern shore of the bay. The spawn in Kitasu Bay continues, and has expanded. The heaviest concentration of predators and sounded fish are in lower Spiller Channel and outer Seaforth Channel. A large biomass of fish has moved into lower Spiller, with reports of fish close to the beach along much of the shoreline south of Mosquito Bay.
