Central Coast Bulletin #19 March 24, 2017: The Proud Canadian remained went to the Boddy/Joassa area yesterday before heading into Stryker Bay, Thompson Bay, and then southwards into Cultus Sound. They set on a 250 ton school near Little Thompson Bay, and they were all juvenile fish. They will be moving into the Kildidt Sound area today. The gill net charter Three Girls 2 continued their sounding program in the Spiller Channel and Spiller Inlet area yesterday. Today they will be working southwards from Neekas Inlet and moving into Berry Inlet and Powell Anchorage. The CCGS Vector is in the Kitasu Bay area today, and will remain in the area for the next few days. A spawn flight was conducted over the northern portion of the area today, and saw no signs of spawn. The flight covered Raymond Pass, Thompson Bay, Powell Anchorage, Moss Passage, Higgins Passage, west Aristazabal Island, Kitasu Bay, Meyers Passage, Spiller Inlet, and Spiller Channel. Birds and sea lions were observed in Kitasu Bay, East Higgins, Moss Pass, Powell Anchorage, and the Boddy/Joassa area. The next flight will be Sunday or early next week. No spawn has been reported or observed in the area.
