TOTAL STRAIT OF GEORGIA: 70,000 tons

The seine fishery in the Strait of Georgia closed March 16. Catch estimate is 
9,695 tons of the 13,013 ton quota.

The roe herring gill net fishery has been open since March 4. Catch estimate is 
10,070 tons of the 15,171 ton quota. 

There was no spawn observed on the flight today from Deep Bay to Crofton. Total 
miles of spawn to date are approximately 47 NM. The next spawn flight is 
planned for Friday March 24, weather permitting.
