North Coast Herring Update March 21, 2017: Area 4 - Big Bay The 2017 Herring fishery by gill net closed as of 1000 hours on Tuesday March 21. The quota has been met. See Fishery Notice FN0246 for details. Area 5 - Kitkatla The charter vessel Franciscan No. 1 continued sounding in Kitkatla yesterday. A biomass of fish was sounded near Gurd Point, and they were able to perform a test set. No spawn has been reported. Assessment continues. The seine fleet is requested to stay out of the area until advised otherwise.
