March 20, 2017: 

Area 4 - Big Bay

Fishing continues. See Fishery Notice FN0228 for details. When quota is 
achieved, closure announcements will be made by fishery manager on grounds over 
VHF.

A test set was performed near Hook Point.

Area 5 - Kitkatla

The charter vessel Franciscan No. 1 continued sounding in Kitkatla yesterday.  
A larger biomass of fish was sounded on the North side of Gurd Island, and they 
were able to perform a test set. No spawn has been reported.  Assessment 
continues.  The seine fleet is requested to stay out of the area until advised 
otherwise.

Definitions:
Scratches - Herring present in small schools 1 to 2 tons
Skimmer - Herring spread out near the surface, difficult to quantify
Fish on bottom (FOB) - Herring too close to the bottom to quantify
NFF - No Fish Found
Washed out spawn - Spawn that is coming to an end
Miles - Means nautical miles for this bulletin
