TOTAL STRAIT OF GEORGIA: 65,000 tons

The seine fishery in the Strait of Georgia closed March 16 at 12:00 hours. 
Catch estimate on hails and validations is 9,695 tons of the 13,013 ton quota.

The roe herring gill net fishery has been open since March 4 and has been  
active on the NE Side of Hornby Island. The hailed and validated catch estimate 
is 10,000 tons of the 15,171 ton quota. 

The test vessel Denman Isle is assessing Area 17 today and tomorrow, weather is 
hampering assessment. No significant stocks and no tests from Area 15. 
Total miles of spawn to date are approximately 47 NM. The next spawn flight is 
planned for Monday March 20, weather permitting.
