FN0226-ABORIGINAL and COMMERCIAL - Herring - Roe - Areas 6 to 10 - Central Coast - Update March 17, 2017
Central Coast Bulletin #12 March 17, 2017: The seine charter vessel Proud Canadian continued sounding in Spiller Channel and Spiller Inlet yesterday. They are hoping to make a test set in the area today. The gill net charter F/V Three Girls 2 began their sounding program today and is heading towards the Berry Inlet and Powell Anchorage area. The CCGS Vector arrives in the Central Coast today to act as a management platform. The first spawn flight for the Central Coast has been delayed until this weekend, as weather conditions have not been suitable. No new test sets have been completed. No spawn has been reported. Harvesters are reminded that the earliest seine fishery was March 11, and spawn timing is similar to the North Coast where a recent seine test reached 8.5%. A spot spawn has been reported in Area 4 near Big Bay.
