Haida Gwaii Herring Update March 16, 2017 TEST CHARTER The charter vessel Queens Reach has surveyed the Major stock assessment Area from Louscoone to Selwyn Inlet. The test vessel has travelled to Queen Charlotte overnight and will transit though Skidegate Narrows to Area 2W on the evening tide. They are expected to transit to Port Louis tonight and commence soundings on Friday. The test charter is expected to return the Haida Gwaii Major Stock Assessment Area after March 23rd. HAIDA AFS PATROL The Haida Fisheries Program is planning to deploy the Haida Guardian towards the end of this week. The Haida Guardian will patrol the assessment area from Skincuttle to Selwyn and identify any accumulations of herring or spawns while the test vessel is out of the area.
