TOTAL STRAIT OF GEORGIA: 65,000 tons

The seine fishery resumed this morning in Qualicum Bay, two sets; however the 
fish were released due to quality. Weather is hampering assessment today. Catch 
estimate on hails and validations is approximately 9,650 tons of the 13,013 ton 
quota.

The roe herring gill net fishery has been open since March 4. The validated 
catch for the gill net fishery is 8,400 tons of the 15,171 ton quota. 

The test vessel Denman Isle is assessing from French Creek to Sabine Channel 
and Area 15 Powell River over next few days before returning to Area 14 and 
ending the charter south of Nanaimo next weekend. The industry test vessel the 
Western King will be on charter in area 14 March 15 and 16.   

There is a spawn flight planned for 09:00 hours tomorrow, total miles of spawn 
to date 34 NM. The dive assessment teams have commenced the dive survey 
program, however weather is hampering assessment.
