Fishery Notice

Spawn Summary

The last spawn flight was conducted on February 28. The flight covered Barkley 
Sound, Clayoquot Sound and was cut short at Maquinna Point, Nootka Island due 
to poor visibility. No spawn was observed during this spawn flight. 

Observed Spawns

Area 23 Barkley Sound 
Feb 13 - Salmon Beach and Forbes island approximately 3/4 miles 

Area 24 Clayoquot Sound
Jan 30 - Hesquiat Harbour approximately 3.25 miles
Feb 23 - Hesquiat Harbour approximately 1.0 mile

Area 25 Esperanza Inlet 
Feb 23 - Port Langford, approximately ¼ mile; This spawn appeared to be 
expanding as it was observed twice during the overflight. 

Test Fishing/Sampling Summary

Area 25

The test fishing vessel F/V Proud Canadian has been in Area 25 since February 
26 sampling in both the Nootka Sound and Esperanza Inlet areas.  The Proud 
Canadian is currently in Nootka Sound area and is scheduled to depart for Area 
24 Sydney Inlet area on March 4, weather permitting.
