Central Coast Bulletin #01
March 02, 2017: 

The charter vessel F/V Franciscan No. 1 began sounding in the Central Coast on 
March 01.  Sounding activities started in Seaforth Channel, Lower Return 
Channel, and Spiller Channel.  Weather depending, the vessel will be heading 
through Outer Seaforth Channel, and towards the Klemtu area for Friday.  No 
test sets have been conducted.  No spawn has been reported.

Lower Return Channel ---------- Mar 01, 1300 tons; small schools, whale and 
bird activity
Seaforth Channel -------------- Mar 01, 2550 tons
Lower Spiller Channel --------- Mar 01, 25+ tons; scratches 
Upper Spiller Channel --------- Mar 01, scratches
Spiller Inlet ----------------- Mar 01, NFF
Ellerslie Bay ----------------- Mar 01, 65 tons
Neekas Inlet ------------------ Mar 02, 20 tons; Fish on bottom

Area 7 Total                    3960 tons

Definitions:
Scratches - Herring present in small schools 1 to 2 tons
Skimmer - Herring spread out near the surface, difficult to quantify
Fish on bottom - Herring too close to the bottom to quantify
NFF - No Fish Found
Washed out spawn - Spawn that is coming to an end
Miles - Means nautical miles for this bulletin
