Fishery Notice

The 2016/2017 Pacific Herring Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) has 
been approved by the Regional Director General, Pacific.

Stock assessment has shown that forecasted estimates of median herring stock 
abundance will be above the commercial fishery cut off of 19,401 short tons in 
2017 in the Central Coast, resulting in potential commercial harvest 
opportunities for the 2017 season. There is a potential harvest of up to 1,940 
short tons in the Central Coast: 600 short tons for FSC, 1,125 short tons for 
SOK and a commercial roe opportunity of up to 215 short tons. Further details 
including fishing plans for all areas are contained in the IFMP.
