Area 7 

The seine fishery will open for 11 hours, 08:00 to 19:00 Tuesday, September 29, 
2015 in the following subareas:

Subarea 7-13

A portion of 7-14 north of a line from 52 26.20 N 128 05.86 W to 52 26.16 N 128 
05.08 W (Bullock Channel closed), south of a line from 52 30.7 N 128 04.26 W to 
52 30.7 N 128 04.99 W (Spiller Inlet closed), Cheenis Creek mouth boundary is 
not in effect, and south of a line from 52 26.82 N 128 09.48 W to 52 26.82 N to 
128 09.08 W (Neekas Cove closed).

Minimum bunt size 70 mm.

The target species in this fishery is  Neekas Creek chum. 


NOTICE TO ALL SEINE FISHERS:

Chum and pink retention is permitted.  All seine fisheries are being conducted 
with non-retention, non-possession of sockeye, chinook, coho, and steelhead.  
Fishers are required to release all sockeye, coho, chinook and steelhead to the 
water with the least possible harm.  These species may not be aboard a vessel 
that is engaged in fishing unless they are being revived in the revival tank 
immediately prior to release.  Sorting and brailing your catch is mandatory. 

When moving between areas with different non-retention and non-possession rules 
a seine must offload prior to fishing in the area they are moving to.

Fishers are reminded that: 
A mandatory monitoring program is in place which includes harvest logs and an 
in-season reporting program. Fishers are required to make in-season reports on 
all fishing activity including a start fishing report and a zero catch report 
if no fish are caught. Failure to report zero catches may result in over 
estimation of total catch. 

Operating revival boxes are mandatory and all prohibited species captured 
incidentally must be either revived in the revival tank and released, or 
released directly to the water with the least possible harm.

Environment Canada (EC) is monitoring seabird by-catch to determine potential 
impact on bird populations under current fishing effort and bird numbers. 
Fishers are requested to submit all dead birds entangled in nets to EC for 
species confirmation and DNA analysis to determine the colony of origin. Please 
call your local charter patrol to organize pick-up, drop carcasses off at a 
local DFO office, or contact EC directly by calling the EC Reporting Line 1-866-
431-2473 (BIRD). Label birds with date, time, location and vessel name (Skipper 
name isn't needed). Handle birds with gloves, double bag dead birds, store on

information such as the type of sea turtle seen (i.e. leatherback), the 
location, and time of sighting.
