FN1080-COMMERCIAL - Salmon: Gill Net - Chum - Area E - Area 21 & 121 Limited Effort Opening - September 28, 2015 - Amendment to FN1075
This Fishery Notice amends FN1075 to correct the vessel name and VRN for the first vessel selection from RENEGADE (VRN 30076) to OCEAN RENEGADE (VRN 29445). The complete corrected notice is included below: This opening has been organized by DFO and the Area E Harvest Committee. The purpose of this fishery is to assess the Nitinat in-season chum return by comparing catch per unit effort (CPUE) with historical fisheries. This assessment fishery may continue for the next 3 weeks. If at anytime the cpue and escapement information indicates the run is large enough, a full fleet fishery may start as early as the following week. Next week there will be two daily 8 hour openings. Vessels will be assigned a portion of a grid pattern for the first 8 hour opening. On the second 8 hour opening, fishers can fish anywhere in the open area. There will be a meeting with Area E Harvest Committee representatives at Port San Juan on Sunday September 27th, 2015 at 16:00 hours. Fishers will be briefed by harvest representatives and assigned fishing areas as well as a chart of the fishing areas. This is a limited effort fishery which will close on short notice if more than 20 vessels participate in the fishery.
