The herring stock biological sampling and sounding assessment program in the

The roe herring gill net fishery has been open since March 4, and is not
currently active. Catch estimate is 10,070 tons of the 15,171 ton quota.

There was a flight March 24 from Nanaimo north to Craig Bay, and then south to
Ladysmith, Saltspring Island and Gabriola Island. No spawn was observed on the
flight. The next spawn flight is planned for Saturday, March 25, weather
