TOTAL STRAIT OF GEORGIA: 65,000 tons

The seine fishery resumed this morning in Baynes Sound with only one set, 8% 
fish and 130 count, the fish were released due to small fish size. Weather is 
hampering assessment today. Catch estimate on hails and validations is 
approximately 9,600 tons of the 13,013 ton quota.

The roe herring gill net fishery has been open since March 4. The validated 
catch for the gill net fishery is 8,460 tons of the 15,171 ton quota. 

The test vessel Denman Isle is assessing from Craig Bay to French Creek when 
the weather moderates, there was 4,000 tons of fish sounded last night in the 
area. The Denman Isle will be assessing Sabine Channel and over to Powell River 
over next few days before returning to Area 14 and ending the charter south of 
Nanaimo next weekend.   

There was no spawn observed on the flight yesterday, total miles of spawn to 
date; 34 NM. The dive assessment teams have commenced the dive survey program, 
however weather is hampering assessment.
