FN1071-New Tagged Sablefish Rewards Program
The Canadian Sablefish Association (CSA) in collaboration with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) attaches yellow plastic tags just below the first dorsal fin of the Sablefish. The information from these tag recoveries is used to monitor migration, estimate abundance and is a key component of the stock assessment for the species. When you catch a tagged Sablefish, at the end of your trip, bring the whole sablefish (preferably frozen) with the tag still attached to your dockside validator. Your points will be recorded and the fish will be taken for biological sampling. Tagged sablefish returns will not be deducted from your quota. All vessels will continue to receive one point per tagged sablefish returned. Points can be redeemed online at the new Sablefish Tag Rewards Estore for a variety of rewards including jackets, hats and shirts. Past tag reward points will be applied to your vessel's points balance. To browse rewards please visit the Sablefish Tag Rewards Estore at http://canadiansablefish.imagegroupinc.ca/ . To redeem your points have one authorized person for your vessel register with the Estore and place orders. If you have questions please contact Birgit Gettings at 778-227-0395 or Leslie Budden at 604-328-7835.
