FN0046-Public Comment Period on the Draft Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Standard for the Development of Electronic Logbook Client Applications (V2.5)
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and the Canadian General Standards Board, a component of the Government of Canada, Public Services and Procurement are seeking comments on version 2.5 of the draft DFO Standard on Electronic Logbook Client Applications, as part of their ongoing standard development process. Electronic logbooks (e-logs) will enable fish harvesters to transmit to DFO fishing catch and effort information using electronic files. E-log client applications will be developed by the software industry and validated by DFO. The new DFO standard will be used to evaluate electronic logbook client applications to be submitted for qualification. The preliminary draft standard was reviewed by a technical committee, comprised of representatives of the fishing industry, software industry, and DFO. DFO has carefully considered comments received from the technical committee, DFO, the CGSB, and other interested stakeholders in Summer and Fall 2015. Version 2.5 reflects the rework of the document based on comments received. Draft 2.5 is available online at the following site: http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/sdc-cps/nir-nei/logbooks-standard-journaux-toc- eng.htm Previous drafts are available upon request. The public is invited to comment on this draft by February 19th, 2016.
