Fishery Notice

Effective immediately until further notice, the daily limit of coho salmon is 
four (4) per day in that portion of Subarea 25-1 in Matchlee Bay located 
southerly of a line drawn from Gauquina point at (49 degrees 39.449 minutes N; 
126 degrees 06.040 minutes W) to a point located north of Black Creek at (49 
degrees 39.369 minutes N, 126 degrees 05.165 minutes W, and northerly of a line 
drawn from a point at (49 degrees 36.971 minutes N; 126 degrees 03.560 minutes 
W)to a point located north of Matchlee Creek at (49 degrees 37.129 minutes; 126 
degrees 03.006 minutes W).

The Area 25 Roundtable, consisting of DFO, First Nations, Area D Gillnet and 
SFAC representatives met September 10th, 2015 and recommended to permit coho 
retention in Matchlee Bay along with the chinook retention opportunity (please 
refer to FN0823). Anglers participating in this fishery are encouraged to 
complete catch cards that will be available at the boat launch in Gold River.


Steelhead, pink, chum, and sockeye may not be retained. Minimum size of coho is 
30cm. 
Notes:

Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal and non-tidal 
waters of British Columbia.  

The term "hatchery marked" means a fish that has a healed scar in place of the 
adipose fin.

Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery 
program by labeling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook 
salmon.  Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for coast-
wide stock assessment.  Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program toll
