FN0889-RECREATIONAL - Salmon: Chinook - Region 3 - Retention of Chinook Salmon in the South Thompson River
This notice updates notice FN0729 for management actions for the South Thompson River only. Effective 00:01 hours Saturday, August 22, 2015 until Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in the waters of the South Thompson River from the green can buoy near the outlet of Little River, including Little Shuswap Lake, to the fishing boundary sign approximately 100 m downstream of Campbell Creek, you may retain: Four (4) chinook per day, only two (2) of which may be over 50 cm. There is a monthly quota of six (6) chinook over 50 cm from the South Thompson River. Fishing is permitted during daylight hours only. VO No. 2015-396 Notes: Single barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in non-tidal waters of British Columbia. Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and coho salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment. Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program toll free at (866) 483-9994 for further information. If you're going fishing for salmon in non-tidal (fresh) waters, you need a Non- Tidal Angling Licence, issued by the Province of British Columbia. Visit the provincial website to buy your licence.
