ROE HERRING INFORMATION BULLETIN: 33 DATE: March 28, 2015 STRAIT OF GEORGIA No new soundings, the test vessel Denman Isle charter ended March 26, 2015. There was a spawn flight today, March 28, 2015, from Nanaimo to Cape Lazo, Denman and Hornby Islands and south of Nanaimo to Booth Bay and Ganges on Saltspring Island. 0.2 NM of medium spawn was observed in Tribune Bay at Spray Point. The next flight is scheduled for 10:00 Monday, March 30, 2015. Total linear distance of spawn to date: 72.3 NM. The gillnet fleet has not been active today. The Gulf Gillnet fishery estimated catch is 4,168 tons of the 13,975 ton quota. Four pools are still active. The fleet is currently standing by. The seine fishery remains open until further notice in Subareas 14-1 to 14-13, 14-15, 17-10, 17-12, 17-13, 17-18, 17-19 and 17-21. Vessels are required to carry an at sea observer for this opening and until further notice when engaged in fishing as per the licence conditions. Two vessels are actively looking for fishing opportunities this evening and tomorrow. The total hailed and validated catch for the seine fishery is 8,823 tons of the 15,440 ton quota.
