The Denman Isle is assessing Pylades today and tomorrow evening. The Neocaligus 
is assessing the French creek Lambert Channel, and outer Hornby Island today. 
There are bodies of fish in Lower Lambert Channel, Columbia Beach, and Mistaken 
Island areas.  

Area 14 opened to roe herring fishing by seine at 12:01 hours local time March 
9, 2015. Subarea 14-14 (Comox Harbour) remains closed. At this time and until 
further notice vessels participating in this opening are required to carry an 
At Sea Observer while carrying out fishing operations, pursuant to the category 
HS and FHS roe herring seine licence conditions. Fishing is underway in the 
Columbia Beach area. If the fish in this area are of sufficient quality the 
fishery may expand later today or tomorrow. There was a seine pool captains 
conference call this afternoon to develop a fishing plan for today and 
tomorrow. The validated catch for the seine fishery is 6,664 tons of the 15,440 
ton quota. The gillnet fishery is not active and the estimated gillnet catch is 
approx 3,500 tons of the 13,975 ton quota. 

There was no spawn flight today due to heavy fog, there is a flight planned for 
March 11, 2015. Total linear miles of spawn to date: approx. 46 nautical miles. 
The spawn dive survey commenced Sunday March 8 and is underway in the Cape Lazo 
area.
