The roe herring seine and gillnet fisheries opened February 28, 2015 in Areas
14 and 17 North.

There was a seine pool captain's conference call at 1900 hours last night to
develop a sounding and testing program for seine fishing opportunities. Pools
have designated testing boats for each area to sound and test the fish from
Nanaimo to Comox area. There were two sets with reported good quality fish in
the Bowser area this morning, and the fishing continues in the Mapleguard to
Bowser area this afternoon. The hailed and validated catch for the seine
fishery is approximately 3,500 tons of the 15,440 tons quota.

The estimated gillnet catch is approx 1,000 tons of the 13,975 ton quota. Most
of the fleet is active in the Qualicum Bay area.
