Invertebrates, Manila and littleneck: Savary Island Fishing for littleneck and manila clams by hand picking is permitted from 17:00 hours October 23, 2014 until 06:00 hours October 24, 2014 by hand picking for 1 tide in a portion of Subarea 15-2, described as the intertidal foreshore of Savary Island only. All clams are to be landed at Lund. Area C Proper remains closed. Harvesting is prohibited in all Sanitary contamination closures. Harvesters are responsible for checking Fishery Notices for the Bivalve Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Updates, as recommended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and issued by DFO. For descriptions of Sanitary and Biotoxin closures see the DFO website at http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/contamination/biotox/index-eng.htm All eligible fishers must have their 2014 license and meet the conditions of that license (wear a high visibility vest with license number clearly marked on it and the sacks of clams must be immediately tagged with the license number as soon as clams are placed in it). All licence holders must carry valid photo identification along with their licences. Fishers should consult the 2013/15 Intertidal Clam Management Plan and the local DFO office for descriptions of closed areas and contact numbers for further information. Variation Order # 2014-499.
