FN0756-RECREATIONAL - Salmon - Area 12 - North Vancouver Island - Cluxewe River - Pink Salmon Limit Change Reminder
Anglers are reminded that pink salmon limits were reduced to one (1) per day effective August 1, 2014 to September 30, 2014 in the following waters: That portion of Subarea 12-17 inside a line that starts at a boundary sign approx. 1.9 km northwest of the Cluxewe river mouth, then to 50 degrees 37.53N and 127 degrees 12.21W, then to 50 degrees 36.98N and 127 degrees 09.53W then 200 degrees true to a boundary sign on the shore. During this time in this area anglers may use only a single-pointed barbless hook that measures no more that 15mm from the point to the shank. Variation Order: 2014-100. Notes: Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal and non-tidal waters of British Columbia. This includes all species of fish in the Fraser River. The term "marked" means a hatchery fish that has a healed scar in place of the adipose fin. Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the voluntary Salmon Sport Head Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and coho salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment. Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program at (866) 483-9994 for further information. Rockfish Conservation Areas that are currently in effect are closed to all fin fishing. Descriptions of these closures, and other recreational fishing information, can be found on the Internet at: www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/recfish Did you witness suspicious fishing activity or a violation?
