Fishery Notice

This is a reminder to the recreational fishing community regarding the 
management of Fraser River Chinook stocks over the approaching months.

As part of a continued suite of management measures required to reduce harvest 
impacts on Fraser River chinook salmon stocks of concern (including those 
stocks in the Spring 4-2, Spring 5-2 and Summer 5-2 PST management units), 
restrictions continue to be required in commercial, recreational and First 
Nations fisheries that impact on these stocks. 

Area 29 Off Fraser River mouth (29-6,7,9 and 10):
Effective 00:01 hours Wednesday, January 1, 2014 until 23:59 hours Wednesday, 
April 30, 2014 in Subareas 29-6, 29-7, 29-9 and 29-10 the daily limit is two 
(2) Chinook salmon with a minimum size limit of 62 cm.

Effective 00:01 Thursday, May 1, 2014 to 23:59 hours Tuesday, July 15, 2014 
chinook salmon may not be retained.


The tidal waters of the Fraser River and the non-tidal waters of the Fraser 
River in Region 2 (Mission Bridge to Alexandria Bridge):
Effective 00:01 Wednesday, January 1, 2014 to 23:59 hours Tuesday, July 15, 
2014 there is no fishing for salmon.

Notes:

Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal and non-tidal 
waters of British Columbia.  

Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery 
program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and 
coho salmon.  Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for 
coast-wide stock assessment.  Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program 
toll free at (866) 483-9994 for further information.

Rockfish Conservation Areas that are currently in effect and are closed to all 
fin fishing.  Descriptions of these closures, and other recreational fishing 
information, can be found on the Internet at:
